10 April 2014

Suddenly, there is colour wherever I look! The sun has broken through the clouds and Primrose, Violet and Bluebell have the spotlight!

Always the best time of year for me, I feel inspired and creative and there are miracles of nature jostling to be seen wherever I look.

Over the winter I designed a new Hen called Mildred, she caused a stir on my Facebook page I can tell you! She's hand built and finished with a needle felted necklace featuring a tiny porcelain heart, nothing but the best for Mildred!!

I've also brought out a new porcelain tea light holder with a crochet design which when lit shows the pattern beautifully, and my piece de resistance is my lovely new porcelain 'Sweet Cicely' Brooch which debuted on Stone Hens Ceramics Facebook page last week and over 1,000 people saw it! I sold out, and am busy making more and it will soon be on the website for sale, as well as a new 'Sweet Cicely' Button.

This month, Stone Hens Ceramics will be one year old on Facebook, I'd like to end the year on a round number, shall we aim high and go for 500 ??!!,  I shall be having a little Giveaway; Like, comment and share even, to be in with a chance of winning a little Pin Tray, a Button, and a Brooch. The winner shall be picked out of a hat on Wednesday, April 30th at 9.15pm.

I've spent a couple of days lately having great fun practicing the art of Raku, a Japanese technique of smoke firing clay, and there are so many variations of this, using chemicals and natural materials to change and enhance the result. I did a few Raku days many years ago, and have never forgotten the excitement of the process and results, and now to have the opportunity of learning more about this art form with tuition from Jane Malvisi, I plan to incorporate this technique into my range of work.

The next event for Stone Hens Ceramics will be the fantastic Wonderwool, at The Royal Welsh show ground in Builth Wells. It's for anyone interested in wool, fibre, felt, knitting, crochet, buttons (that's where I come in!), rag rugs, spinning, weaving, patterns, equipment etc., it's a huge show, a frenzy of creativity, certainly worth a visit!

It's also a great place to inspire you to take up a new creative project to work on!

Please pop over to my Facebook page to be in with a chance of the Giveaway!
